Routing Plans

Create a routing plan, choose the connections it spans, and activate or disable it from the plans grid.

A plan decides which of your Connections a merchant's transactions are routed to, and holds the Routing Rules that make that decision. Every merchant that processes through Preczn is assigned to exactly one plan.

Because a platform can hold as many plans as it needs, you can route a cohort of merchants one way and another cohort differently — by connection economics, by geography, or by whatever fits the business.

Plans live under Routing → Routing Plans in the left navigation.

Creating a plan

  1. Open Routing → Routing Plans. Select Add a plan — the tile at the end of the grid, or the button in the middle of the page if you have no plans yet. The Add plan drawer opens.
  2. Under Plan details, enter a Name and a Description. Both are required. These are your own labels, so name the plan for what it does rather than which connections it holds — connections can change later.
  3. Under Connections, select one or more connections for the plan to route across. A plan can only use connections you pick here, and a rule can only distribute across connections its plan holds, so include anything you expect to route to.
  4. Select Add plan.

The drawer closes and the new plan appears in the grid.

📘

A new plan is active immediately

Plans are created ready to route. There is no separate enable step — a plan starts Active and can take merchants as soon as it exists.

Where the plan spans payment connections, Preczn adds a Distribution rule that splits volume evenly across them, so the plan can route before you configure anything. Adjust or replace it on the plan's detail page — see Routing Rules.

The plans grid

Every plan appears as a card, with active plans first. Each card shows the plan's connections and a status of Active or Inactive.

  • View opens the plan's detail page, where you edit the plan and manage its rules.
  • The menu on each card holds Disable plan (or Activate plan), and Delete plan.

Activating and disabling a plan

Disabling a plan stops new transactions routing through it while keeping the plan and its rules intact.

Select Disable plan from the card menu. The confirmation names the plan and tells you how many merchants are currently assigned to it — those merchants need moving to another plan before they can process again. See Assigning Merchants to Plans.

Activate plan returns a disabled plan to service from the same menu, and takes effect straight away.

❗️

Check the merchant count before disabling

A merchant assigned to a disabled plan cannot route a transaction. Move merchants first, then disable, so nothing is left stranded on a plan that no longer routes.

Live and Test plans

Plans belong to a single mode. Live and Test are entirely separate environments — separate merchants, connections, plans, and rules — and a plan created in one is invisible in the other.

Your current mode is the LIVE / TEST pill in the top navigation bar, and it decides the mode of anything you create. Only connections configured in the same mode are offered when you build a plan.

Build and exercise a plan in Test against every scenario you expect, then recreate it in Live once you are satisfied. See Live vs Test Mode.
