Cloning Merchants
Create a new Merchant from an existing Merchant's data.
Cloning creates a new Merchant using data from an existing one. It's useful when a Merchant is rejected or changes ownership and needs a fresh record, while the original Merchant is kept intact for audit history.
Cloning a Merchant
- Navigate to 'Merchants' in the left-side navigation pane and open your Merchant Vault.
- Select the ⋮ menu in the Actions column for the Merchant you want to clone.
- Select Clone Merchant.
- Choose which data to copy, then confirm.
What Gets Copied
| Data | Copied |
|---|---|
| Merchant profile details | Always |
| Owners | Optional |
| Bank accounts | Optional |
| External ID | Optional (moved to the new Merchant) |
| Connections | Never |
| Processing Plan | Never |
External IDAn External ID can only belong to one Merchant. If you choose to copy it, it is moved to the new Merchant and removed from the original.
After Cloning
The new Merchant starts without connections or a Processing Plan, the same as a Merchant created via the API. Add connections and onboard it as usual. See Connection Configuration and Merchant Onboarding.
The original Merchant is otherwise unchanged, and an entry is added to its activity log with the new Merchant's ID.
