Password Policy and Guidance

We highly prioritize the security of our customers' data. To align with industry standards and comply with PCI DSS requirements, we provide the following guidance on managing passwords securely.

Password Requirements

Requirements we enforce are denoted by an asterisk (*):

  • Use a password that is between 12 and 30 characters long. *
  • Include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, and numbers. *
  • Change your password at least every 90 days. *
  • Do not reuse any of your last 4 passwords. *
  • Avoid easily guessable information such as birthdays, names, or common words.
  • Never reuse passwords — create a unique password for each account you have.

Note: The 90-day password update requirement applies to all users, including those who sign in with Google or Microsoft.

Expiration Reminders

You don't need to track the 90-day window yourself. When you log in to the Preczn Dashboard:

  • Starting 14 days before your password expires, you'll see a reminder with the number of days remaining.
  • Within the final 7 days, the reminder becomes more urgent and reappears daily until you update your password.
  • If your password has already expired, you'll be prompted to reset it before continuing.

Why Changing Your Password Matters

Passwords are a key defense against unauthorized access. If a password is compromised, malicious actors can gain access to your account and sensitive data. Regularly updating your password helps mitigate security risks and strengthens your overall protection.

When Should You Change Your Password?

In addition to the required 90-day update, you should immediately change your password if:

  • You suspect it has been compromised.
  • You receive an alert regarding unauthorized account activity.
  • You have shared your password with someone else (even unintentionally).
  • You logged in from an untrusted device or network.

Additional Security Measures

  • Store passwords securely using a trusted password manager rather than writing them down.
  • Never share your password with anyone, including customer support representatives.

By following these best practices, you can significantly enhance the security of your account and personal information. If you need assistance updating your password, please contact our support team.
